How do you get a 3 year old to stop throwing stuff?

My 3 year old daughter has been throwing stuff lately.She dosent throw stuff at me she throws it on the ground. Like when I gave her dinner tonight she threw it on the floor b/c I forgot to give her a dora plate. If she dosent get her way whatever in her hand goes on the floor drink, toy ,food anything. Ive tryed , timeouts nothings working. She only does it when her dads at work when he gets home she a totally different girl. /any advice on what I could do?
