How can I protect myself in a dispute with my landlord where he only wants to give me 10 days to move out?
I recieved a letter from my landlord saying i have 10 days to vacate the premises (I believe this is because he wants to live in my apartment). When my roommate and I said we wanted 30 days as is mandated by law, he threatened to throw our stuff out on the lawn. He came into our apartment and took pictures while we weren't home, of a wall written on with marker and some holes in the same wall. He told us we don't have to fix that if we move out within 10 days but we are fairly certain he'll sue us once we move out. We plan on fixing these things and taking pictures of the repaired apartment but, again, we're supposed to have 30 days to do so. We're also fairly certain he WILL throw our stuff out on the lawn if we don't move out within 30 days. How can I protect myself without sacrificing the 30 days we deserve?
