Am I being unreasonable - or is my dad being selfish?

I've just started college, and I had to go to one far away from home (because the one in my area is really bad). There's only one college bus to and from college (one in the morning at 8:20 and one that takes me home at 4:35). This makes it impossible to get home if I only go in for 1 hour unless I walk. I walked home today and it took 1 hour 15 minutes. I've been told before it's not safe to walk home as the area is a bit dodgy, also it's just straight roads with no pedestrians for nearly an hour (though there is a path). My dad is unemployed so we're on benefits, but he has a car and drives it all the time, so it's not like he won't pick me up to save money or anything. How can I persuade him to give me a lift home (it's a 10 minute drive from home)? He always picks my brother up from school (he's 13) when it's only a 10 minute walk. Am I being unreasonable, and should I just walk it?
